I wake up to the smell of bacon. I crack my eyes open and the sunlight streaming in through the curtains causes me to squint with one eye still shut. I never fucking sleep past five a.m. I'm always up before the Sun. My body's internal clock is set on the same time every morning without fail. I climb out of the bed and grab my briefs from the floor next to the bed and quickly slip them on. I walk into the kitchen where I find Ivy in front of the stove making breakfast.

"Good morning," she greets me and smiles shyly.

Shyness has no place here after the shit I've been doing to her body for the past week. Insatiable doesn't even come close to what Ivy is. She's ten times worse. Just when I think she'll be too sore to even move, she climbs on top of me and blows my fucking mind. I thought I couldn't be surprised, and then Ivy walks into my life and takes everything by storm. The thoughtful shit she does always has me taken aback. I'm not used to someone caring about what the fuck I feel. It was never supposed to be this. I was supposed to protect her, kill whoever the fuck hurt her, then send her on her way back to her life at university and never think twice about it. Now, I second-guess every decision I make when it comes to her.

She's dressed in nothing but a white T-shirt of mine, dancing around the kitchen to some girly shit on the TV, cooking breakfast like she was supposed to be here all along. Fuck, could she be? Could I ever picture myself living a domesticated life with someone? If it was Ivy—someone who might truly accept the man that I am and the life that I will always live? I watch as she does a quick spin and dances along to the beat. So carefree, comfortable like no one is watching.

"Sleep well?" she asks.

I nod, but still don't speak. My head's fucked up with the illusion of keeping Ivy permanently here with me, and I don't want to come off as an asshole, especially when it's my own fucked up shit that's the problem. We eat breakfast together in a comfortable silence and she clears the plates and then leaves me sitting at the table. I hear the water running in the bathroom and realize she must be drawing a bath. Perfect. Any excuse to get her naked and wet again.

When I walk into the bathroom, she's submerged in the bubbly water up to her nose. I quickly remove my boxer briefs and she grins when she sees me getting ready to join her. I sink into the water opposite of her and put her feet into my lap.

"Tell me why they call you Misfit," she whispers.

My heart stops in my chest. I've never told anyone this story, except the person who helped me escape hell.

"Ivy…" I trail off, unsure of where to even fucking start.
